Clinical services include:

Brief assessments, treatment recommendations, and referrals
Crisis intervention and emergency risk assessments - available 24/7/365
Short-term individual counseling, typically with biweekly appointments
Couples counseling (if both individuals are eligible for services)
Group counseling and workshops, including groups specifically for graduate students
Medication consultation for students currently engaged in counseling at PACS

Additional services:

Consultation to staff, faculty (including GA's!), and friends/family members about various mental health/psychology related topics, as well as specific student concerns and issues - see here for more information and resources
Educational workshops and presentations about a range of wellness-related topics, including stress management, conflict resolution, self-compassion, etc. Specific trainings include the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention trainings as well as a Peer to Peer Support training to facilitate the development of peer-led support groups
Collaboration with off-campus providers to provide continuity of care

Common concerns addressed at PACS:

Academic performance, motivation, and stress management
Acculturation and adjustment to graduate school and/or New Hampshire, homesickness, loneliness
Anxiety, depression, grief & loss
Building strengths and coping skills
Experiences of discrimination, including microaggressions, and domestic/international sociopolitical events
Identity development related to spirituality, sexual orientation, gender identity
Mild to moderate alcohol/substance use concerns
Mild to moderate body image and disordered eating concerns
Relationship difficulties, conflicts with friends, family, and significant others
Personal safety concerns, such as thoughts of suicide or self-harm
Traumatic experiences, including sexual assault

Students are typically referred out for:

Comprehensive psychological evaluations for determining eligibility for vocational rehabilitation, disability benefits or documentation for emotional support or service animals
Neuropsychological assessments assessments for learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD
Weekly, long-term, or specialized treatment

To get connected with PACS:

Go to the PACS website to schedule an initial phone consultation with a staff clinician. During this 30 minute phone call, the clinician will ask you questions about your current concerns, goals, and history to make a recommendation for services. This might include services at the PACS office, within the UNH community, or outside of the University. The initial phone consultation is usually able to be scheduled within 2-4 business days. For students experiencing more urgent or time sensitive concerns, same-day appointments are available.
